I'm mystified as to why neither the reviews or author mentioned the multiple non consensual scenes? They take up such a huge chunk of the story. (Not sure if I can use that word on Amazon.) The scenes are drawn out and even the character himself clearly describes them with a certain word that begins with R. He even asks to not be put through the "journey," but the boyfriend instead continues sending him off to be assaulted! Why? Your guess is as good as mine.Įven stranger, it's not even sugar coated. This makes no sense, though, because he clearly already loves the guy and even sleeps with him! Supposedly the "journey" is a test he must pass to recover the memory of how he fell in love with his boyfriend. I sincerely wish I could say I was exaggerating. (While his boyfriend watches and does nothing to help.) Fish, eels, plants, vines, etc.Įach time, he is clearly saying NO and trying to escape but is held down/tied up, then assaulted until he literally passes out. Summary: after being beaten and having his memory erased by his own father, our poor protagonist is sent on a "journey" by his supposed "good friend" and "true love" which consists of repeatedly being sexually assaulted by all sorts of magically animated things you'd never want in your body.
I usually love this author's work, but honestly this piece is just plain unsavory.
